To be or not to be the person who calls 911?

Most lifeguards will never have to call an ambulance. For those who do, however, it’s always a big step that can be quite intimidating. They hesitate. “Is it worth it to summon the big yellow truck just for this instance?”

Remember that at the end of the day, only the victim can decide if they want to be transported by the ambulance – unless, of course, they are in a critical condition.

But to accept or decline ambulance transport, the EMS must actually be there! Either way, the quick triggering of the chain of survival gives the victim a better chance to recover.
